Starting to be raw again. Is this enough?
by iwillcomeagain ([info]iwillcomeagain)
at July 15th, 2009 (09:10 pm)

I want to know what you all think of my typical meal plan for a day and if there's something I'm missing or something I should be eating more of. Any advice is appreciated :)

Smoothie with orange(juice), 3 bananas, 5 strawberries, kale, spinach, flax, and hemp

Larabar

Large salad with kale, spinach, romaine, broccoli, snap peas, carrots, cucumbers, red peppers, pecans, mung bean sprouts, raisins

Smoothie (with similar if not identical ingredients)

Either another salad or something more elaborate like a dehydrated chickpea/lentil patty with hot sauce in a lettuce wrap

Do you think this is enough food and enough variety for a 5'7 130 lb guy?

A Journey Through Time And Space

This has taken about three weeks, which is rediculous but there we go!
Only a crappy photograph of it for now, but as soon as I get my hands on a scanner there'll be a version of this where you can see all the detail :)
Once I finished it in school today, my friends were trying to spot all the characters/episode references and I thought that might be quite a fun thing for other people to do too xD So if you want to have a go at that you're very welcome to!

hey all, i just wanted to stop by and drop a line about some amazing records that came out last month....
my good friends in New Tomorrow from san luis obispo Ca released their new full length "we're counting on the youth"... and i must say its my favorite hardcore record of the year. their songs are inspired and inspiring, positive hardcore for the young and old alike. they are DIY and i love them. if there were more bands like this the world might actually become a better place.

vitamin K2
by glaring_orange ([info]glaring_orange)
at July 14th, 2009 (01:51 pm)

Hi all,

I have a question about vitamin K2... I only discovered that there was such a thing when I bought Shazzie's book Evie's Kitchen (the Vegan Society of UK, for example, say nothing about it on the nutrition section of the website, they only mention 'vitamin K'). Shazzie recommends supplementation (for children especially), because apparently the conversion process of K1 into K2 in human body is not very efficient and otherwise the only vegan sources are some fermented foods like natto (which I had never heard of before).

K2 is said to be important for health (including bone formation) and to work synergistically with vitamins A and D.

What do you think of the importance of this vitamin? Do you include specific fermented foods into your diet or supplement? Do you know of any comprehensive sources of information on K2 with regard to vegan / raw vegan diet I could look at? I'm very keen to be on the safe side with nutrients as I'm expecting a child.

Thanks for your views!

hi y'all!

i've been a member a while but never posted. my husband and i have FINALLY made the decision to homeschool our son. he's 5 and would be in kindergarten. we will be using a unit study called Five In A Row. Has anyone every heard of this or used it? What is your opinion on it?

Also, the unit doesen't really focus on alot of math or phonics skills. What have some of you used for math in the kindergarten year? My son can count and he can do basic addition and subtraction. I'm just not sure what to supplement the unit study with. I ALWAYS hated math and im afraid of unintentionally putting that on my son.

Any advice, comments, questions, etc would be much appreciated!

Sorry about my recent lack-of-blogging. We have been trapped inside of an honest to goodness rock and roll vortex. These past few weeks, we have been hammering away at our fourth album in a "secret" "underground" "subterranean" studio. Part of me wants to spill all the details, song titles, subliminal messages, blazing solos etc etc but that would be no fun at all. Where's your sense of adventure? I think that if you wait just a little bit longer that you'll thank me for it in the end. Just a little bit longer..

Raw summer squash
by Sarah ([info]screamsosoft)
at July 9th, 2009 (10:23 am)

I made some pesto last night and ate it with slices of a small yellow squash. I did eat the whole squash, and I've felt some mild stomach upselt since then (still do now). Pesto hasn't made me feel ill that I recall. I've never tried the raw squash before, and it was really yummy. Is there a raw food guideline against eating raw squash in decent sized quantities?

Getting started

Hello!

I am curious in starting a career in the massage therapy field and have a couple of questions.

1. When looking for a school, what should someone be looking for? This is where I plan to go: http://east-westschool.com/home/
2. I plan on getting my education in IA, then move to PA to start my career. How would that transition work as far as licensing goes? Is this not a wise choice?

My family lives in PA and I've found a nice school here and would like to continuing working at my job until I am ready to move and save up money...all that good stuff. I'm 21 and haven't been in college for about 3 years. I only went to community college for a year in Gen Ed.

Also, any other tips or any thing at all regarding starting an education in massage therapy would be great. I would be glad to take opinions from professionals :).

Thanks a bunch!

Hey everyone,

For anyone who has The Sims 3 I attempted to make a Mighty Boosh household. You are much more limited with 3 than with 2 (oddly enough) so I did the best I could. I think they turned out rather well...Vince, Howard, Naboo and Fossil are included.

Anyway, I have them up on the exchange if anyone is interested.

hey everyone! im new here! I have been vegan on and off for a while now but finally have straightened things out and have been building up to an all raw diet. tomorrow i wanna do all raw and give up my cup of brown rice. i think im ready. just curious if u had any RECIPES that do not include NUT and SEEDs i have a food intolerance to them. luckily i love avocado! I also would prefer no oils cuz i just don't like the way they feel.  The less processed the better for me! Anything more than a blender makes me nervous as well as too many ingredients! ha. if u have any product recommendations too thats great! So hard to find nutless and seedless raw products. now my last question is how u guys feel bout too much fruit or too much fat debates...everyone seems to go crazy bout this stuff! I figure tomorrow I just wont have more than 2 avocados.  I think thats reasonable and I can go down I guess eventually.  Thanks!

This is probably a really dumb question, but for Summer Sonic, it's broadcasted on TV, right? In Japan, I mean, haha. Also, I came across this http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.channel&ChannelID=1000566470 and it's probably nothing but it got me wondering if they'll maybe do a live stream from their myspace or something? I'm not familiar with Summer Sonic at all so I'm just wondering. Obviously I'm way too excited over this. :P Haha thanks. :)
